Punjabi Singer Ammy Virk’s Father Denies Son Was Targeted in Canada Shooting
Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has denied reports that his son was the target of a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Police have confirmed that a vehicle was fired upon after Virk’s concert on September 5, but have not identified the occupants or confirmed whether the singer was inside. The family says the shooting was linked to the concert organiser rather than Ammy Virk.

Ammy Virk’s father denies reports singer was targeted
Conflicting accounts have emerged over a shooting incident involving a vehicle linked to Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk’s concert convoy in Canada.
Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has denied reports that his son was specifically targeted in the incident, saying the singer is safe and has no known enmity with anyone. According to Singh, the gunfire was directed at a vehicle connected to the people who organised the concert, rather than at Virk himself.
The clarification comes after reports that a vehicle travelling with Virk’s concert entourage came under fire in Abbotsford, British Columbia, shortly after his performance.
What happened in Abbotsford?
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, a vehicle travelling through the 2500-block of McCallum Road was fired upon by occupants of a dark-coloured SUV shortly after 11 pm on September 5.
No injuries were reported.
Police later responded to a separate vehicle fire in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, around five kilometres from the shooting location. An SUV was found completely engulfed in flames, and investigators are examining whether the fire was connected to the shooting.
The Major Crime Unit is investigating the case and has appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage from the relevant areas.
Police call it a targeted shooting, but motive unclear
Canadian police have indicated that the shooting appeared to be targeted, but they have not publicly confirmed who was inside the vehicle or who the intended target was.
That distinction is important. Early media reports linked the vehicle to Virk's convoy and suggested that the singer may have been travelling inside it. However, police have not confirmed his presence, citing privacy considerations.
Reports that as many as seven shots were fired and that the vehicle was a bulletproof luxury car have also circulated, but several of those details have not been officially confirmed by Canadian authorities.
What Ammy Virk’s father said
Speaking from Punjab, Kuljit Singh said his son was safe and disputed reports that the singer or his vehicle had been targeted.
He said Virk had “no enmity with anyone” and indicated that the incident was connected to the people involved in organising the show. The Tribune also reported that Singh had been informed by another family member that the shooting was not directed at Ammy Virk’s vehicle.
Another close relative also reportedly denied that Virk and his associates were specifically targeted.
Why reports about Ammy Virk spread
The confusion appears to have stemmed from the fact that the vehicle involved was reportedly associated with Virk’s concert entourage.
Initial reports suggested that the singer and the show's promoter were travelling in the vehicle when it came under fire. Later reports, however, acknowledged that the police had not confirmed the identities of the occupants.
As a result, the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
No injuries reported, investigation continues
Ammy Virk is safe and no injuries have been reported from the shooting.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and the subsequent vehicle fire. No arrests have been announced so far, and the motive remains unclear. Investigators are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area.
For now, the key point is that a shooting involving a vehicle linked to Virk’s concert convoy did occur, but Canadian police have not confirmed that Ammy Virk himself was the intended target. His father has specifically rejected reports suggesting otherwise.
