JP Nadda visits flood-hit Assam, promises full support from Centre

BJP national president and Union Minister JP Nadda on Tuesday visited flood-affected regions in Assam and assured the state of all possible assistance from the Centre to deal with the ongoing crisis.

During his visit, Nadda reviewed the flood situation, inspected relief camps and interacted with people displaced by the floods. He also held discussions with state government officials to assess rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures.

"The Central government stands firmly with the people of Assam. We will provide every possible assistance to help the state overcome this difficult situation," Nadda said.

Review of relief operations

The Union minister was briefed by officials on the extent of damage caused by the floods, the ongoing rescue operations and the distribution of relief materials.

He also reviewed arrangements at relief camps, including the availability of food, drinking water, medical facilities and temporary shelter for displaced families.

Nadda emphasised that the Centre and the Assam government were working in close coordination to ensure that assistance reaches every affected area as quickly as possible.

Centre assures continued assistance

Highlighting the Union government's commitment, Nadda said financial and logistical support would continue until the flood situation improves and rehabilitation work is completed.

He urged officials to prioritise vulnerable groups, including children, senior citizens and pregnant women, while ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities in flood-hit districts.

Floods continue to affect several districts

Large parts of Assam have been impacted by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers, leading to widespread inundation, displacement of residents and damage to homes, roads and agricultural land.

State agencies, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations in the affected districts.

Authorities have appealed to residents in vulnerable areas to follow official advisories and cooperate with emergency teams as efforts continue to restore normalcy.
