Akanksha Chamola says divorce from Gaurav Khanna was processed before Lock Upp, not for TRPs: ‘Just have to sign papers’

Akanksha Chamola denies using divorce for publicity on Lock Upp

Television actor Akanksha Chamola has responded to speculation surrounding her separation from actor Gaurav Khanna, asserting that the divorce proceedings were initiated long before her appearance on the reality show Lock Upp.

Addressing allegations that the personal development was revealed for publicity or to boost the show's ratings, Chamola firmly denied the claims, saying the timing had nothing to do with television exposure.

"The divorce process was already underway before Lock Upp. It wasn't done for TRPs. We just have to sign the papers," she said.

'The process had already started'

Chamola explained that the legal process had been in motion for some time before she joined the reality series. According to her, the couple has already completed most of the formalities, with only the final paperwork remaining.

She said the public discussion around her personal life intensified because of her appearance on Lock Upp, but insisted that the two developments were unrelated.

Responds to online criticism

The actor also addressed criticism on social media, where some users suggested that the announcement was strategically timed to generate attention.

Chamola said such assumptions were unfair, adding that people often judge public figures without knowing the full story. She maintained that the decision to separate was a personal one and should not be linked to her professional commitments.

A private chapter in the spotlight

Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna have been married for several years and have largely kept their relationship away from the public eye.

News of their separation sparked widespread discussion among television fans, particularly after Chamola's participation in Lock Upp. Her latest clarification seeks to dispel rumours that the divorce became public solely because of the reality show.

What's next

While confirming that the divorce is nearing completion, Chamola said she is focused on moving forward with both her personal and professional life.

Neither Gaurav Khanna nor his representatives have publicly responded to her latest remarks.
