Siya’s Constant Phone Use, Mentions of Chetan: Pune Businessman’s Father Recalls ‘Ignored Red Flags’ Before Tragedy

Pune: As investigators continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, his father has spoken about what he now believes were warning signs that the family failed to recognize before the tragedy.

Ketan's father said the family had accepted Siya Goyal wholeheartedly and was busy preparing for the couple's wedding when certain behaviors began to stand out. Looking back, he said those signs now appear far more significant in light of the allegations made by police.

Among the concerns was Siya's frequent use of her phone. According to the family, she was often engaged in long conversations and appeared unusually attached to her mobile device. At the time, relatives did not consider it suspicious and attributed it to routine personal or professional communication.

The family also recalled hearing Siya repeatedly mention a man named Chetan. While his name surfaced regularly in conversations, relatives said they never questioned the nature of their relationship and assumed he was simply a friend or acquaintance.

"We ignored those red flags," Ketan's father reportedly said, reflecting on the months before his son's death.

The remarks come after police arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary in connection with the death of Ketan, who fell into a gorge during a visit to Lohagad Fort near Pune. What was initially believed to be a trekking accident has since become the subject of a murder investigation.

Investigators allege that the accused conspired to eliminate Ketan ahead of his planned marriage to Siya. Police claim the fatal incident was not accidental and are examining digital evidence, call records and witness statements as part of their probe.

Ketan, described by relatives as trusting and family-oriented, was reportedly looking forward to his wedding later this year. The families had already begun preparations, with venues and ceremonies being planned months in advance.

His father said there was never any indication that the relationship was in serious trouble. The family believed the couple shared a stable bond and had a future together.

The allegations have left relatives shocked and searching for answers. Family members say they are now revisiting past interactions and conversations in an attempt to understand whether there were signs that could have prevented the tragedy.

Police have not disclosed the full extent of the evidence collected so far, but officials maintain that the investigation is progressing and that all aspects of the case are being examined. The accused will have the opportunity to present their defense as legal proceedings move forward.

The case has drawn widespread attention across the country, with many following developments in what has become one of Maharashtra's most talked-about criminal investigations in recent weeks.
