‘Adding More Pressure’: Ex-BJP Leader Annamalai Questions Centre’s Tight Security Measures for NEET Re-Test

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief and ex-party leader K. Annamalai has raised concerns over the extensive security protocols being implemented for the NEET re-test, saying the measures may unintentionally add to the stress faced by candidates.

Reacting to reports of heightened surveillance and stricter examination procedures, Annamalai questioned whether the approach was placing an additional burden on students who are already under significant academic pressure. “Adding more pressure” on candidates should not become the unintended consequence of efforts aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness, he reportedly said.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations, has remained under intense scrutiny following allegations of irregularities and paper leaks in recent years. In response, authorities have introduced tighter security measures, including enhanced monitoring at examination centres, stricter verification procedures, and increased deployment of personnel.
