'Maiden Speech Bhi Nahi Hua': Kiren Rijiju Targets Kharge, Takes Swipe at Pawan Khera During Parliament Row

New Delhi: A heated political exchange unfolded during the Monsoon Session of Parliament as Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised Congress president and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, while also taking a swipe at Congress leader Pawan Khera.

Speaking to reporters, Rijiju referred to the parliamentary rule book and remarked, "Maiden speech bhi nahi hua," in an apparent criticism of the Congress' stand during the proceedings. He accused the Opposition of disregarding parliamentary conventions and attempting to disrupt the functioning of the House.

The BJP leader said Parliament operates under well-defined rules and procedures, adding that debates should be conducted in accordance with the rule book rather than through repeated disruptions and protests.

Rijiju also targeted Pawan Khera over his remarks on the ongoing political controversy, alleging that Congress leaders were making statements outside Parliament while avoiding substantive debate inside the House.

The comments came amid continuing confrontations between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition during the Monsoon Session. Several issues have led to frequent disruptions, slogan shouting and walkouts in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

The Congress has maintained that it is raising issues of public importance and holding the government accountable, while the BJP has accused the Opposition of obstructing parliamentary business instead of participating in discussions.

The latest exchange highlights the growing political tensions between the BJP and the Congress, with leaders from both sides trading sharp remarks inside and outside Parliament.

As the Monsoon Session progresses, further debates and political exchanges are expected over several contentious issues before both Houses.
