Yogi Adityanath hits back at opposition over Ram temple donation row, says critics made 'no contribution'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday mounted a strong defence of the Ram temple donation process, taking aim at opposition parties over their criticism of the alleged donation-related irregularities. He asserted that those questioning the matter had "not contributed a single penny" towards the construction of the grand temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing a public gathering, the chief minister said the Ram temple was built through the faith and voluntary contributions of millions of devotees across the country. He accused opposition leaders of attempting to gain political mileage from an issue deeply connected to the religious sentiments of people.

"Not a single penny came from their pockets, yet they are the ones raising questions today," Yogi Adityanath said while responding to criticism surrounding the temple donation case.

The BJP leader maintained that the temple's construction was the result of decades of public support and sacrifice, adding that the donation process had been carried out under an established mechanism.

Opposition criticism and political sparring

The remarks come amid a political slugfest over allegations linked to donations made for the Ram temple. Opposition leaders have demanded greater transparency and accountability regarding the handling of funds, with some calling for an independent inquiry into the matter.

Responding to these allegations, Adityanath said attempts to cast doubts on the donation process were politically motivated and intended to undermine a project that symbolises the faith of millions of Hindus.

He further accused opposition parties of consistently opposing initiatives associated with the Ram temple and claimed they were now trying to create unnecessary controversy around donations.

BJP defends donation process

The Bharatiya Janata Party has repeatedly maintained that contributions for the Ram temple were collected through a transparent process involving voluntary donations from devotees across India and abroad. Party leaders have dismissed allegations of financial irregularities, saying appropriate systems were in place to ensure accountability.

Adityanath reiterated that the Ram temple represents national pride and cultural heritage, urging people not to be misled by what he described as politically motivated narratives.
